Mother's Day was the best! It wasn't that I got anything spectacular yet the whole day was. My favorite part came when I was reading in my bed and the boys (all 3 of them) came in with my red nail polish ready to paint my toes. I didn't have the whole day off because Jacob needed mom and only mom to wiggle his super loose molar out. I am not a good tooth puller, but it came out easily and I was happy to be there for my sweet boy. I really enjoyed my day. I had lots to do seeing as I was leaving for North Carolina early the next morning but Shelby wouldn't allow me to do anything him or the boys could. All my big kids called and when I got home from my trip I had packages from them. Very special!North Carolina was an adventure. My brother is doing amazingly well and it was great to see for myself. His girlfriend and I cooked gourmet meals every night. One gets really hungry when they haven't been able to eat much for a few years. It was beautiful and green. Nothing like Bakersfield! On the way home my flight from Phoenix to Bakersfield was cancelled and so I got to spend an extra night away. I was sooooo ready to be home. The first couple of nights away are nice, but then you start missing everyone. By day 8 you are really ready to be home and see your kids, but especially your husband. So in spite of the nice hotel room, it was a really lonely night.
While I was gone Ezra was in the Spelling Bee and I was pleasantly surprised to see Shelby had recorded him spelling a word!
He made it to the second to the last round!
I was so grateful Shelby was able to take the week off work while I was away. I didn't worry at all. The boys had a lot of fun with their dad. They went to my aunt's cabin for a Father/Son campout to celebrate the Aaronic Priesthood commemoration. Jacob said "We talked about the Priesthood, mom." They have done this every year since they were old enough to be without mom for a night. This year they were without mom for 8 nights.
Then this past weekend we all went to the cabin for Memorial Weekend. No phones, just a fire going all weekend, movies, reading, and games!
And finally, last but definitely not least ... Today is our anniversary
13 years! WOW!
but nothing compared to eternity. We've had quite the adventure so far and I don't see it letting up. I can't imagine sharing it with anyone else. He makes life fun! And now my stud husband just got home earlier than expected, 36 minutes riding his bike home from work. So I'm gonna freshen up and he really needs to so we can go enjoy a night out to celebrate.
